Dental bridges are a restoration option for those who wish to fix a gap between their teeth caused by lost or missing teeth. This dental prosthetic closes the gap by placing a dental crown onto the teeth on either side of the gap (these are known as “abutment teeth”) and then anchoring a prosthetic tooth in between these crowns. This will allow for a more natural look and feel.
Below are a few of the most common reasons to have a dental bridge placed:
Having a dental bridge placed is a two-step process. During your first visit to our office, your abutment teeth will be prepared to receive dental crowns. Once the teeth have been prepared, impressions will be taken of the teeth in order to have dental crowns made. Temporary crowns will be placed onto the abutment teeth to protect them until the permanent crowns are ready.
During your second visit, the temporary crowns will be removed and the customized ones will be cemented into place. Once this has been done, your bridge will be attached to the crown and adjusted to fit properly. It will then be cemented into place as well, and you can enjoy your new smile!
