How Pets Can Benefit Your Overall Health

How Pets Can Benefit Your Overall Health Pets provide us with joy, companionship, and unconditional love. And now, it’s been discovered that your pets can actually offer quite a few physical and emotional health benefits as well.

Health Benefits of Pet Ownership

Below are a few of the many health benefits of having a pet:

  • Physical Activity – Animals, especially dogs, encourage their owners to get outside more often. If you’re playing with your animal outside, walking your dog, or playing Frisbee in the park with your pup, these are all levels of outdoor physical activity that you may not otherwise be getting.
  • Stress Relief – Animals, mostly cats and dogs, can help people control their stress levels. In fact, service animals are often provided for people with panic disorders or those who suffer from post-traumatic stress. These amazing pets have a calming effect on people suffering from panic and anxiety.
  • Fights Allergies – Research has proven that people who grow up around animals and pets have better immune systems and are better able to fight off bacteria and allergens.
  • Emotional Health – Lastly, a study published in the Journal of Personality & Social Psychology discovered that people who own pets are more resilient, self-confident, independent, and capable of forming healthier and more fulfilling relationships.

Please leave a comment telling us all about your pets and how they help improve your life!
