We discuss a lot of different dental diseases and the symptoms that may accompany them, but there are also ways to tell that your dental health is in good shape. It’s just as important to know the signs of health as it is to know the signs of a problem!
Signs of a Healthy Mouth
Below are a few simple ways for you to tell that your oral health is being properly maintained:
Healthy Gum Tissue – Healthy gums should be firm and pink. Gums should sit flush with the teeth and shouldn’t show any signs of recession. In order to keep the gum tissue healthy, it’s important to floss and brush every day.
Neutral Breath – The pH balances in a healthy mouth will emit a neutral odor. Too much bacteria or plaque in the mouth will cause bad breath. A potentially unpleasant, but accurate way to test your breath is to floss your teeth or use a tongue scraper and then take a good sniff.
Strong Teeth and Restorations – During your regular dental cleanings and exams, your teeth and restorations will be checked. Problems may include dental cavities, tooth decay, damaged restorations, or grinding of the teeth.
