Spring Cleaning Dental Exams

Young boy in dental chair holding and looking into mirrorNow that spring is here, most of us are getting the itch to clean and air out the house! However, spring cleaning doesn’t just have to be related to our belongings, it can also be a part of our oral healthcare routines. Regular preventative checkups are quick and painless and will consist of both cleaning and an exam. However, up to a third of people don’t make these visits!

Spring Cleaning Dental Exams

Below are a few reasons why spring-cleaning dental exams can be beneficial:

  • Detect problems early – Since so many dental diseases are painless and may not show any symptoms in the early stages, it’s important to catch these dental problems early on. If you wait until symptoms begin to appear, the treatment may be more painful and expensive than treating them early on.
  • Cancer screening – Early intervention is the best way to tackle any dental problem and that includes oral cancer. During a preventative checkup, you will be given a thorough cancer screening as well.
  • Plaque reduction – During a dental checkup, you will be given thorough teeth cleaning. During this cleaning, stubborn or well-hidden plaque and tartar will be removed the teeth, helping you to avoid dental cavities, tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental diseases.
  • Reverse gum disease – If you are suffering from the early stages of gum disease, you may notice that your gum tissue is swollen, red, or bleeds easily. Regular dental checkups will prevent gum disease from developing into periodontitis, which can result in eventual bone or tooth loss.
  • Reduce heart problems – Good oral healthcare can reduce inflammation and support a healthy heart. Gum disease, in particular, can cause problems with arterial disease, so it’s important to make sure that your gum tissues are healthy.

With so many benefits, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to make your regular dental checkup here at SpringRock Dental. To make an appointment, please contact our Aurora, Colorado family dental office today.
